BEST TIME OF DAY TO SCHEDULE YOUR ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

January 12, 2022

Brittni is an engagement and wedding photographer based in Southeast Michigan but she travels worldwide.

When is the best time to get your engagement photographs taken?

GOLDEN HOUR

Most photographers will tell you that the first hour of sun and the last hour of sun are the best times to take photos.

The reason? Well, there are several!

1.) Mid-day shoots have you battling harsh overhead sun, harsh shadows, and so on! Unless you can find a nice shaded area, this time of day is less flattering for our subjects!

2.) Sunrise and Sunset lighting is soft because the sun is low in the horizon and this gives a more even light that the photographer can have more control over when creating killer images!

3.) It can me more colorful. Who doesn't love a sky full of color? Or even a sun flare peaking around the couples in their photos? I mean I do!

Sometimes during a wedding it is unavoidable when we are able to take photos and we have to take some in less than favorable lighting conditions. Overcast days are a savior, as well as a good shade tree or the side of a building with the sun behind! We get creative as photographers to find the best lighting in all conditions! ?
